HERE'S A PUZZLER from the Silver Dollar: A panhandler had collected four dollars but urgently needed another buck to buy a five-dollar bottle of whiskey. A former financier who had boozed his way onto skid row gave him the solution: "Take your four dollars to a pawnshop and pawn it for three dollars. Then sell the three-dollar ticket to someone for two dollars--and you've got your five bucks."
