WHILE IT'S true that "the more things change, the more they stay the same," some differences in Grapevine humor can be seen over the years. For the most part, they reflect the times rather than changes in AA itself. For example, the magazine is very careful about sexist humor in 1984, but our consciousness hadn't been raised in March 1947, when this appeared:
