Once More With Feeling

I RECENTLY CAME BACK to AA after a five-year slip that was characterized by much self-pity, self-doubt, a growing sense of uselessness and isolation, and even in the face of some achievements, an embittered feeling toward my family and the world. "Slip" is not an accurate description of my desire to go back to drinking and drugging after being straight and sober for fifteen months. To be truthful, I had grown impatient with my inability to find peace and harmony. I developed a nostalgic yearning for those good times I had once had with the gang, instead of working at developing something new. So I shelved my spiritual life and went back to the familiar routine of getting high.
