THE GOLFER IN THIS STORY didn't like the way things were going. Every time he hit the ball, it landed in a nearly impossible lie, but he managed to hack it out of a rut, a gopher hole, a puddle of water, and finally a sand trap on to the green, where he sank a twenty-foot putt.
