THAT SWAPPING was risky business, and there was also an element of danger in a tale from W. F. of Wisconsin. It dealt with a chronic boozer who sat on the side of his bed and said to himself, "There's a church just across the street, but the sidewalks are very icy. And there's a tavern a few blocks away, but I'll be very careful how I step."
