Acronyms, initials, or Greek?

All my adult life (before and after I drank alcoholically), acronyms, initials, and numbers were an integral part of my speech. My conversation was laced with military terms like IAGS, B-2-3, CG, HSC, G-4, WRAIR, S-2, BCT, MAMC, 2/29th INF, DINFOS, and many others. My civilian friends would just throw up their hands: "Can't you speak English?"
