Once Over Lightly
Sense and nonsense on the road to recovery
THAT REFERENCE to a shining light ties in with a tale from R. L. of British Columbia. It deals with the tipsy captain of an old freighter who saw what looked like the light of another ship dead ahead on a collision course with his. He sent a signal: "Change your course ten degrees to the east," but the reply came back directing him to turn ten degrees west. He became angry and sent a stronger message: "I'm a Navy captain. You change your course!"
