Foreword

The five articles in this special section clarify AA's Twelve Traditions and concentrate on two that seem to be of great present concern: Tradition Five, which states the Fellowship's primary purpose, and Tradition Twelve, which emphasizes the spiritual value of anonymity. The Grapevine editors have chosen to reprint these particular articles in the belief that the principles they affirm have special importance for the 1980s.
