I was attending an AA meeting in a new area I'd just moved to. During the coffee break, one of the men came over to me. After he'd said "hello," he brusquely proceeded to ask me a series of questions about myself. I thought he was "putting me on," but several people around me whispered, "That's ----. He's not all there, stay away from him." I did that, rationalizing, "Well, I am alone, unmarried, new here, have to be careful, etc." But something inside of me was not feeling right about this decision.
