No credit, no blame

I became a member of Alcoholics Anonymous out of sheer desperation, almost nine years ago, after trying for some time to stop drinking through Dream Analysis. I was really terrified at my first meeting and for months after that I squirmed and suffered. I continued to attend a meeting whenever possible in spite of feeling alien. It took six months of regular meetings for me to be able to say a few words, and they were very few. I did make a commitment and that commitment was never to say no when I was asked to do something or anything, for I was grateful to have that dreadful compulsion to drink removed.
