September GV--pro and con

In response to the letter written by S. G., "No experts in AA" (September 1985 Grapevine), I want to add my appreciation and hearty agreement to treating the "professional" like any other AA member. I am one of those professionals seeking recovery. During regular meetings I identify myself as an alcoholic, and after meetings am reluctant to tell anyone what I do for a living, for some people then see me as a guru of recovery, or solicit advice, or even look at me to settle controversy. After all, if one is a physician, isn't one supposed to have all the answers to life? The answer to that is a definite NO. If I do have all the answers, what am I doing here at meetings?
