An hour or so ago I read the October 1985 issue of the Grapevine. As soon as I finished it, I resolved to write. But I could not; my eyes were still too misty, my heart pounding, and a magnificent feeling of gratitude was seeping from every pore. I too was in Montreal, and while reading the warm, life-giving article, so many of my own personal memories and stories (mirroring the ones in the article) flooded my emotions so intensely that I could only weep for the inner joy of sobriety.
