Any length--or arm's length?

My friend M. refers to me as one of AA's untouchables. I guess it was a bit difficult for people to reach me. I couldn't let people get close, or even let on that I enjoyed their smile of "glad to see you at another meeting." I covered my fear with a chip on the shoulder attitude and bouts of self-righteous anger. But, you hear a lot of sayings around the Fellowship that help with personal inventory, and one for me was, "A chip on the shoulder is definite proof there's wood above."
