State of Mind

I can distinctly recall when I was very young always wanting to be someone other than who I was, somewhere other than where I was, and doing anything other than what I was doing. I don't know whether or not that was due to my very limited view of life or to my lack of imagination, but in either case, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" was not my favorite question. I could not picture myself being anything other than what I was then, a lonely, discontented human being.
