Total recovery

I should now like to congratulate you on including "Opportunity Knocks," in the May issue. I suspect that it will arouse some controversy among the readers. However, it is good to know that there are long-sober older members with live-and-let-live attitudes toward young newcomers like that of R. L. of Berea, Ohio. Actually, there are probably many like him, but we hear so much from those who struggle viciously to keep themselves separate from the "chemically dependents." Nevertheless, it is apparent that the ranks of the simon-pure ethanol alcoholics are thinning--the old ones are passing and the newcomers include but few of that genre. If we seek to discourage the bulk of the new applicants for the sake of a rigid orthodoxy, what will happen to our Fellowship? Will it become divided? Fade away?
