Close Encounters of a Snowy Kind

It was Christmas night, I had almost a year of sobriety, but I was still shaken up over a close call with a bottle of wine at the beginning of the holiday season. Now at 10 o'clock I could feel myself facing another close call. I found myself in circumstances that precluded any possibility of help, and that really frightened me. I was physically and mentally far from the security of my home meetings--about as far from easy access to the comfort of AA as I could be.
