Pulling Out of It
Like a lot of AAs, I had trouble with "God" when I first entered the program. When I was a youngster, my mother made sure I attended catechism and went to church and confession often. Though certain aspects of church tradition attracted me, such as the smell of incense or hearing the Gregorian chants, God just seemed something or someone to fear. I remember my mother slapping me once after I made a disrespectful remark when Mass had let out.
