It Starts With the People

There was security and warmth in the room

Today I can appreciate Step Two more than I ever did before. At my first meeting there were people who were laughing, smiling, shaking hands and yes, they even said "welcome" to me! At that time I was feeling a lot of self-hate, guilt, shame, loneliness, and fear of everything. I was a person who had given up hope. I could no longer live the way I had been living, but I couldn't even kill myself. I know because I had tried.
