Old Sam and the Holy Spirit

When the meeting ended, "Old Sam" got a big hand, as usual. Sam always had a long, spellbinding story to tell. Sam was an ex "mission stiff" and waterfront bum. There were some who didn't like him much because he always said something about the Twelve Steps and God. But when Sam talked, everyone listened. It would have been hard not to, anywhere within the 10-mile range of his normal speaking voice.
