Shedding a Little Light

On page 41 of the August 1987 Grapevine, in a digest of the 1987 General Service Conference, I came across a paragraph outlining the problems some AA members face when they find themselves in meetings with court-referred newcomers. I can certainly understand these concerns--the difficulties with court "sentenced" people perhaps not understanding our anonymity Traditions, and the misconception on the part of some law enforcement agencies that AA is a treatment organization rather than a recovery program--yet there may be a solution.
