Not Too Shy to Try

If there is one thing that has remained constant throughout my life, it is my shyness. Even in the first year of my life, I would scream or cry (I am told) when anyone who was not a member of my immediate family would enter the household. During my early school years, I would never speak in class, even to the point of various teachers suspecting there was something developmentally wrong with me. It was not until I discovered the wonderful effect of alcohol in high school that I was able to become any kind of a social human being.
