Around AA
AA Tradition suggests that Alcoholics Anonymous should cooperate freely with other organizations, and the inclusion of AA in a recent exchange on alcoholism and drug abuse, under the auspices of the U.S. and Soviet governments, well illustrates the principle of "cooperation without affiliation." At the specific invitation of the Soviets, John B., general manager of AA's General Service Office, represented GSO on a two-week trip to Russia, along with a group of fifteen people in the field of alcoholism treatment and education in the U.S. The emphasis of this trip lay on what was happening in the Soviet Union; a second exchange, tentatively scheduled for April 1988, will give a chance for U.S. participants to share information on treatment here.
