By Conflict We Grew

My name is Wiktor and I'm an alcoholic. I am from Poland, though I lived for the last two and one half years in the United States, where I hit my bottom in April of 1983. At that time I was introduced very generally to the concept of AA and I went to a few meetings. I was so happy with myself for staying sober, and I would go to the meetings from time to time just to hear the people talk about how horrible it was when they were drinking, and it would keep me remembering that I shouldn't drink myself.
