Sobriety On Safari

Tom and I are members of the Fellowship married to each other and living in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. For a long time we were Loners, sort of. We had two-person meetings each week in which our "speaker" came to us on tape. We read the Preamble, played the tape, shared a bit on what we had heard, and "closed in the usual fashion." Now we have two new members, and the four of us hold a small but regular weekly meeting of the AA group of Addis Ababa. Tom and I recently took a holiday in Zimbabwe, in southern Africa, where there is a somewhat larger " AA family." How much of a family it really is was not so obvious to me until we got to Harare, the capital. I had written to an AA correspondent, telling him of our impending arrival, and called him as soon as we checked into our hotel. I was disappointed that there was no answer at his home number. However, no sooner had I hung up than the phone rang in our hotel room.
