Uniqueness

Things have changed since my beginnings in AA. In 1976 the ratio of young people was much smaller than it is today. I was twenty-five years old then. I used my age and my sex as excuses for why I could not be an alcoholic. Fortunately, God was doing for me what I was not able to do for myself, and I stayed dry long enough to realize that I belonged in AA. I felt pretty unique in my home group. It seemed to me that everyone was from forty to sixty years old.
