Fitting Into the Field
September of 1980 found me sitting in my first AA meeting. I would have preferred to go hide away in some hospital and shut the world out, but the only possible solution I knew of for my alcoholism was AA; I did not know of treatment facilities or detox centers. After finding sobriety through AA when I finally hear of other methods of beginning recovery, I found myself resentful of both the people who went to them and the centers themselves. I was very pro-AA.
