Not just for the group

After coming to AA and working the Twelve Steps, I still felt "apart." My sponsor pointed out: "If the problem is personal we need to work the Steps. If the problem involves another person, we need to work the Traditions on a personal basis." The Traditions are not just for the group. They are for me to work in my relationship to the group, or anyone else for that matter. Anonymity, humility, primary purpose, a loving God, spiritual foundation, autonomy, ultimate authority, trusted servant--these are the principles the Traditions offer us. These principles must be applied by me in all my affairs, public or private.
