90 & 90

I was rather dismayed by the recent letters blasting the concept of ninety meetings in ninety days. Granted the concept does not come out of the Big Book, but when the Big Book was written there simply weren't that many meetings. From my own experiences working with newcomers, the ones who have stayed and are making it today are the ones who did their "ninety in ninety." Those who say they can maybe go to two or three meetings a week, "if they have time" don't make it. Three goes to two, down to one, down to none, and they are soon gone. I feel it's extremely important to get the newcomer to lots of meetings. There are more than four hundred meetings a week in this city, from early morning meetings to midnight meetings every day. Those who find that they can't hit a meeting a day aren't trying very hard.
