After coming to AA, I wondered what it would be like in 10 years and was told, you will find out in 10 years, one day at a time. As I approach my 10th year without drinking, it seems like yesterday. The healing inside of me releases the memories of the pain and hurt and all the rest that I carried during my 17-year drinking career. Through the Three Legacies of Recovery, Unity, and Service, I have a new freedom that I want to share with all who come near me. As I learned to apply the Steps of recovery, I have found the courage to change me, and to develop the faith to continue on and not go back or stop. Through all the problems and events I have endured in sobriety, I have not had to pick up a drink, and for that I am very grateful.
