Poland AAs Hold Third General Service Conference

AA was introduced to Poland in 1957, through the efforts of a nonalcoholic doctor. Although that initial effort didn't quite "take," the seed grew and flowered in the late 1970s in the cities of Poznan and Warsaw. In 1988, over the weekend of July 1-3, 145 voting representatives of the 230 groups now established in Poland convened in Wroclaw for the country's Third General Service Conference, with the theme "AA Experience, Strength, and Hope." Every group can send a delegate to the Conference, and to distinguish Conference members from others in attendance, the delegates hold up white cards when they vote.
