God's kids

The second weekend in June 1988, I had the privilege of attending the First Annual North Dakota Al-Anon-Alateen Conference in Bismark, N.D. The highlight of the entire conference, in my opinion, was the Saturday afternoon session put on by the Alateens. There was a panel of about a dozen youngsters who expressed what Alateen means to them. Two kids had to stand on a chair to reach the microphone to share, but share they did. Those kids really did some beautiful work. I don't see how anybody could have possibly sat through that session without a tear in the eye, a lump in the throat, a pain in the heart, or a knot in the gut.
