As I read the piece by Bernice M. ("Whatever Happened to Anonymity?" in the March 1988 issue), I agreed entirely with the importance of our anonymity. Yet I couldn't help but sense a bit of sour grapes. The same superiority complex, the same ego inflation which she observes in celebrities was equally evident in the thrust and tone of her argument. We in AA often use our principles, our Traditions, to bolster our own egos.
