The Alarm Went Off Early

My drinking started at age fourteen and was problematic from the beginning. I was put out of school in the ninth grade and experienced my first arrest for public drunkenness at sixteen. It was downhill from then on. I was completely beaten at twenty-six, when I surrendered to AA and God as I understood him. At fifty-four, with slightly over twenty-eight years of happy sobriety, I love to look back and reflect on the things that helped me maintain sobriety.
