Stepping Up, Then Stepping Aside

After I put some days together in AA, my sponsor brought up the subject of service work. This term was familiar to me from listening to others and from attending the business meetings he suggested. I was excited that my sponsor thought I had grown and was ready to be of service as our group's GSR (general service representative). After all, "we must give it away in order to keep it." I was about to find a whole new meaning to that phrase.
