Anybody home?

"Talking the Talk" in the August issue made me feel so good. I am a counselor in a treatment center and I agree completely with David A. of Ann Arbor. I tell my clients that treatment is discovery, but AA is recovery. I also explain that the most spiritual experience an alcoholic can have is to go on a twelfth-step call and follow through with sponsorship. I feel so many AAs today call driving someone to detox or treatment a Twelfth Step. Treatment is important for many people, but AA is still the answer. We in AA do have "a solution" and it still works just as it did for Dr. Bob and Bill W. I would ask and encourage AA members to make up a twelfth-step call list and give it to treatment center personnel. Many times when I get a call for help, I can't find an AA member who will pitch in. Not everyone needs treatment, but every suffering alcoholic needs an AA member when they reach out for help.
