I reread Box 1980 responses on sponsorship in the March 1988 Grapevine and I suddenly realized that I was having ambivalent feelings, feelings of resentment, anger, and confusion still after over eighteen years of continuous sobriety. It was in a small town in the Midwest, and I turned to my pastor for help with my problem--drinking--and he said, "I think, my dear, you are ready for AA." He promised to get in touch with someone who knew about AA and would take me to a meeting and show me the ropes.
