No Loopholes Left

By the grace of the Higher Power I am sober today. I joined the wonderful Fellowship of AA in July last year. I'd come across AA before when I lived in England. I once lived in a community house after leaving the Army and one of the first things the landlord said to me was, "My name is Ian and I'm an alcoholic." At the time I prided myself on being a liberal-minded person, and so I smiled gently, thinking, "Poor man, but then I suppose we all have problems." Even then I was in the throes of alcoholism but did not realize it.
