SPEAKING OF POTTED PLANTS: Outside a book store on the lower level of New York's Grand Central Terminal is a six-foot tree with notes stuck in its branches written by various people to various other people. Sample intelligences: "J.M.K.: You rat! G.S.L."; "Sam: Don't let it end like this. Babs"; "Dear Joe: I waited two hours for you and gave up so drop dead." But the scrawl that caused M. N. of Elmhurst, L.I., to tell us about this, read: "Joe: I have taken the children to Mother's. Please stop drinking and leave that woman and come home. Flora."
