After a few months in the program I decided it would be nice to start looking for a church to call home for me and my wife, I was met head on with opposition from several people in the program. One said, "You shouldn't go to church for at least a year." Another said, "You have no business going to church without at least five years sobriety." Another said, "Watch out, church will get you drunk." Others said, "I've tried church and church couldn't get me sober." Well, I agree, church can't get you sober, only God can. But church can't get you drunk either. Only you can take that first drink.
