SOS

I visited our "AA" convention here recently. Let me tell you what I saw. I saw a sign off the hotel lobby welcoming nonsmokers only to an AA hospitality room. I saw additional signs welcoming one and all to treatment center hospitality rooms. I heard a participant from the podium introduce himself as an addict. I heard the speaker dismiss a myriad of addictions and compulsions with equal fervor and all but belittle the Twelve Steps. I was told that the GSR meetings are now being held at a treatment center and that the major item on the agenda for the next meeting will be a vote to bar smoking from the meeting. Everyone appeared to be having a real swell time and I felt like the only alcoholic in the room. I was grateful it wasn't my first meeting. I wouldn't have made it.
