Second Chance on Skid Row

At the age of nineteen I attended my first AA meeting. It was held at the Lenox Hill Group in Manhattan and it was the largest group in New York City. My experience with the members was quite difficult. All too often, I was advised to leave, being told over and over, "You're too young to be an alcoholic," or "I spilled more than you ever drank."
