Shadows in the Corner

It is nearly twenty years since I attended my first AA meeting. I am a member of different groups now, but occasionally I find myself returning to the scene of some of my early meetings. At such times I am gripped by the seemingly contradictory ideas of sameness and change. The AA message of sobriety and hope remains constant, and sometimes there is a familiar face or voice. But most of the members I knew are gone now.
