How others achieve sobriety is none of my business. But when I read a news item in the Grapevine's gray pages ("About Alcoholism"), stating that certain people have questioned "why it is that recovering addicts and alcoholics have no recourse in treatment for self-help besides AA, NA or similar twelve-step programs," my reaction was one of gratitude that twenty-five years ago AA was my only recourse.
