Having just finished reading your July 1991 issue, and in particular, "You're Needed Here," I am again touched by some of our special needs and special interests that aren't often addressed. I have noticed that the Grapevine consistently illustrates its articles with white males unless otherwise referenced within the article. In the June issue there were two illustrations of white women. Unfortunately, one was lounging about on the telephone and the other was absently drying dishes. Is this what women do in your opinion? The illustration in "You're Needed Here" was beautiful, but why assume every other article is a white male? Are there so few African-American men in AA? Are there no professional women in AA? Perhaps also our "new" Victor E. could have contact with someone other than white men. The illustration for "Keeping the Meeting Alive" was wonderfully equitable. Frank F. did a beautiful job of showing AA's diversity of membership.
