The Matter That Matters

The why of it--why a person becomes an alcoholic--doesn't seem to matter greatly. The question of whether I came from a dysfunctional home has little bearing on recovery. I was the cause of--I created--dysfunctional homes: that is the matter that matters. My behavior, not somebody else's, robbed me of self-respect, self-esteem, self-worth.
