Sled Dog Serenity

I stopped in the middle of the snow covered lake and slipped into thoughts of gratitude. The beautiful snow covered pines cast long shadows across the quiet lake and I was able to get out of myself and see all that I had. Perhaps the greatest gift that sobriety had given me was the ability to see that I was a part of all this. My clean living and continued work on the Eleventh Step made me one with the great spirit in these Northern woods. I was able to see and hear all that was around me. The shades of white accented by the blue sky, the sounds of the hearty birds and amidst all of this the sound of my own heartbeat.
