Ritual in AA

My first AA meeting was a real open speaker meeting. I was told it was a meeting to inform and educate people about AA, and it was held once a month. When I finally got up enough nerve to attend AA in the first place, I was allowed to come in, sit down, listen and leave. Eventually, I stayed a little longer each time (instead of being the first one out the door). I started asking questions and meeting people who had the same kinds of problems I did. I then took the necessary next step of going to closed meetings, where I found help and serenity.
