The Rose
In January, I celebrated my seventh birthday in Alcoholics Anonymous. As I look back over the year, I realize it was the very best year ever in my sobriety, for it was linked inextricably with the Seventh Step and the absolute necessity for me to keep on changing. As Dr. Silkworm states in the Big Book, unless the alcoholic can "experience an entire psychic change there is very little hope of his recovery." Frequently last year, I was confronted with the pain of change. One day last week, I found myself confronted with yet another painful defect.
