You're Needed Here

I am black, female, and alcoholic. Before AA, I often considered those facts a rather tragic and unfair cross to bear. Today, these selfsame realities assure me that I have both purpose and responsibility. My responsibility to all alcoholics, sober and active, male and female, black, brown, yellow, red and white is beyond question. However, the additional, and perhaps special, purpose that my Higher Power may see fit to use me for is, in my view, related to the fact that I am first a black alcoholic and second a female alcoholic.
