When I first joined and got involved in my home group, I had just come out of an institution. I really believed I was not going to stay sober and I was pretty well convinced that making the coffee, picking up chairs, etc., was for the birds. But these people were lending me a few bucks here and there and I was living off the coffee and cakes, so I reluctantly did as little as I could get away with.
